Big Sleep and Big Lebowski Double Bill

Two crime classics, both starring icons of their own cinematic era, the Big Sleep and the Big Lebowski double bill give you the chance to compare and contrast Humphrey Bogart and Jeff Bridges as the lead private eyes. Introduced by Ben Walters, co author of the new BFI Classic on the Big Lebowski, you can see both these films and understand where Bogart and Bridges, and Philip Marlowe and Dude cross over. As the Coen brothers used the Big Sleep as a template for the Big Lebowksi, and the Big Sleep was taken from Raymond Chandler's pulp fiction novel, are they in essence the same film?
